Say Hello To My Little Friend: True Boredom

The song Spirits in the Material World by Sting, sums up my feelings about the nature of many of the world’s problems better than any other.

Although I have a degree in Sociology, majoring in International Development; when I am asked questions about the crises humanity is currently facing, instead of offering some complex academic explanation, I will inevitably grab my Jembe African drum and do my version of Sting’s Spirits in The Material World.

However, seeing this is a written medium, I will allow myself to express a few broad exoteric caveats on this subject…

It is my belief that with more than enough technology and resources to adequately feed, clothe and house every single human being on this planet, it’s becoming painfully obvious to all except those that are so pathologically bound by the illusions of their power goals, that the issues we face, are not due to a lack of resources, but one of the consciousness necessary in order to cooperate over them.

We need to further develop the kind of genuine self-realized spirituality that brings forth our innate awareness of the underlying unity of all material and non-material phenomena. The more this awareness is made manifest, the more the ideological and intellectual prejudices that are the source of our competitive struggles will dissolve.

So it is with the humblest gratitude, that I thank all the countless artists around the world, at all levels, from the grassroots to the pop iconography, who help to bring these kinds of vital questions to the surface of our conscious content, that we may be faced with a greater sense of urgency to cooperate and work through the obstacles that may be preventing us from expressing our optimal loving human beingness.

Our deep embeddedness in a global ecological system of consciousness, comes with the recognition that the lives we will save through developing new forms of  cooperative awareness will inevitably be our very own.

Spirits in the Material World

There is no political solution
To our troubled evolution
Have no faith in constitution
There is no bloody revolution

We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world

Our so-called leaders speak
With words they try to jail you
They subjugate the meek
But it’s the rhetoric of failure

We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world

Where does the answer lie?
Living from day-to-day
If it’s something we can’t buy
There must be another way

We are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
Are spirits in the material world
